I have already mentioned the importance of choice of language, not in writing, but in convincing people to listen. Not to stop and hear you, but to truly open their minds and listen. Even seemingly benign words automatically become associated with positive and negative connotations over time, losing the words’ original intended meaning. This can be seen with a word like “retarded”, previously meaning intellectually disabled. Or a word like “queer”, previously meaning strange or peculiar. Less offensive words replaced their original meanings. It is widely regarded that the word “queer” wasn’t even associated with a person’s identity until 1894 despite it having been used since the 16th century.

This slow change of the meaning of words doesn’t just happen for words that become offensive; it happens for all words. The existence of Etymology as a field of study makes this clear.

So when I write a word like “manipulate” as in to manipulate another person, you probably feel something negative in you emotionally. Pay attention and notice that feeling. When I write a word like “propaganda” you probably feel something similar. When I write a word like “Communism” you might be feeling it a lot more. That isn’t fair to those words. That isn’t fair to those that choose to use them either. You need context to understand what someone means when you listen to them speak. You can manipulate a person in an intentional and positive way. Like convincing a loved one to go to rehab. Or grounding your child to make sure they do well in school. These are both examples of manipulating someone to help themselves. We just soften the language we use when it is positive. For most concepts like this, we have other words to use, so we end up subconsciously softening our language. Of course there is nuance to things, but my point is that the euphemism treadmill applies to more words than many people think. It applies to all words. That is why language changes. This is why so many words have multiple meanings both historically and today as we use them commonly.

Communism is a well defined concept in modern literature. It is much harder to soften the language around that. Perhaps when you read the word “Communism” replace it with “Pathosism”. Coming from the Greek word Pathos meaning
1: an element in experience or in artistic representation evoking pity or compassion – 2: an emotion of sympathetic pity. Communism (or Pathosism) is an idea that all great thinkers have come to.

There is a reason why Communism is tried and has failed repeatedly throughout history; deep down every human with empathy understands that wealth and resource inequality should not exist. It doesn’t make logical sense. Why should ANYBODY be born without an automatic right to live on this earth? There are enough resources for everybody. All literature written by people who haven’t come to this realization consciously is automatically flawed in this society due to the Incessant Propaganda. There will always be anti-communist propaganda that influences their works. They will claim that this society is paradoxical, doubting human nature as evil, or making the claim that money is an evil thing that corrupts all humans.

This is wildly untrue. Communism at its core is the belief that everyone has the right to live. I give Pathosism this same definition. Needless suffering does not have to happen on this earth. Humanity can be free from unjust suffering. There can also exist a type of market in this society. So long as the core principles of Pathosism persist. All humans are born with a right to live, no matter what. So long as nobody be allowed to hoard resources, society will prosper. Society will regulate itself – all those who possess empathy couldn’t stand to watch an innocent human die if they had the resources to save them at their disposal. That would be absurd. Only someone who does NOT possess empathy could allow this to happen. Don’t get caught up in the details of how we get there. The good of humanity will make sure it is as good as possible. Just never forget who is to blame for ALL of society’s problems right now. People who don’t have empathy. They are incapable of caring if we live or die. They need the power over us. They need the control. And it is not theirs’ to have. It is our own.
